  1. the badge looks great on line, and the club can give themselves a big slap on the back for all the great work they are doing.and for dealing with all the yellow badge drivers working up town, when the ltda and all the other trade papers would not deal with this issue, Ive just down load a membership and will be glad to give my money to the club.

    • I always try and get the Badge every month, a proper trade paper not filled with ad`s and bullshit.
keep up the sterling work boys

    • I saw the comment Jason Byrne made and think you should put it back up because it shows how ignorant some e are. These articles taken from the internet need to be read by the larger audience, and Grant Davis has the vision to see this!

I think Jason Byrne was referring to the Nissen Hut articles, which makes me believe he is probably a supporter of the WCHCD and the Brian Rice regime. Obviously he is an ally of the pro scab brigade!

  2. Guys and Girls, I know feelings are running strong and drivers are wanting to set those people straight that are out to cause discord and disunity in our trade.
I would dearly love to put up your comments naming and shaming them. Alas, Grant Davis as Chairman has made a decision about content and I must respect his wishes. Your input and support is very much appreciated!

    • Look, I do not want the clubs web site to be used as a place to settle private scores, and slag various orginizations off, there are a few other sites that you can do this on ladies and gents.
I know there are issues in the cab trade that need resolving, but by working hard together, who knows what we can achieve?
The biggest demo London has ever seen, Ed Thompson getting the boot, cars stopped from having ranks at Heathrow, and the killer thrown of the KOL.
But still, we need to carry on the fight for our futures…all of us !

  3. If you have a complaint regarding The Badge Newspaper. Please direct them through the proper channels (the office).

As I have said many times before. Grant Davis is not the administrator and I am not his secretary to pass on messages. This is the LCDC website and blog, not a forum for non members to criticise or critique the LCDC.

    Thank you,
    LCDCorg.

  4. hi would like to read the june/july addidions of the badge, can only get up to april???????
also take a look at hotfrog website, think we,ve been cloned, they also have lcdc, but its not us? spooky
    gerry

      • still no news on the yellow/green id discs????
        how much longer!!
all gone quite on the badge front grant
        its a disc,with a tfl logo,a badge number,
        how hard can it be
i think the pco/ tfl will hang this out to dry until april 2011 when they review their budget, & guess what??
“well we think its a good idea, but we just don,t have the money” why do the green when you can do the yellow in 12months & tout, hey why do the yellow when you can drive a tuk tuk

      • Gerry the club as recently been invited to see early drafts of green and yellow identifers.
There will be a item in the Sept issue of the Badge

  5. Stop fussing about the GB & YB, whats the problem if some of them nick a little. Ive been driving (GB) for 15 years now and the only complaint I have ever heard about my colleges is “driver was too old” , “driver was driving too fast”, “driver refused to take me” and “driver was on his mobile all journey” but never heard he took a wrong route. Funny what happens to this trade when the kipper is about…. get out there and work and less of the moaning, maybe worry about what Add Lee are doing, because they will win in the end !!! just look at the old granby grill !

  6. Hi guys im a yellow badge doing the green and am sick and tired of people branding us as some soet of scum.Very few yellows tout for work and the ones that do are useless.I try to go to every drive in and march associated with us drivers green and yellow but have to admit it will be the last time i do .rather then have us and them ie yellow and green why not try and stick together for once and try to sort the problem

    • Lee. the yellow badge drivers that work in central London are ‘scum’ as you put it. they have no right to take the work from green badge drivers just because it is hard where they work in the suburbs. you are doing exactly as i did 20 odd years ago after realising the suburbs were not where i wanted to work. i did the green badge. if the yellow badges cannot make it pay, leave the trade. 40 yellow badge drivers recently caught in one weekend in town. hardly a small problem i would say. many of the suburban drivers licenced for sector 2a and 2b work illegaly in town. to me they are no different than mini-cab drivers. why some green badge drivers wish these people well is beyond me. maybe they have friends or relatives in the suburbs. anyway, enough said. good luck in your green badge quest. Tom

  7. The Farce That Is Dial-A-Cab

I see that Brian Rice and Call Sign (Feb) has yet another edition of self preservation mis-information

It seems Brian Rice believes it is a secret that D-A-C is operating a Concierge system that is supplying work to Private Hire Companies. He further seems to think that this secret is of such an order that Licensed Taxi and Private Hire (PCO) were not aware of D-A-C’s PH alliance. He incredulously suggests that the PCO only became aware of D-A-C minicab operations when someone informed on D-A-C!

To cover up his mis-governance of a mutual society he bemoans that there are many problems facing the trade and that time and money is squandered by others highlighting the fact that D-A-C is operating a minicab Concierge system. A system that is to the detriment of the taxi trade.

Mr Rice fails to see that he is a major contributor to the taxi trades problem. He has mismanaged D-A-C to such an extent that he is spending thousands and thousands of pounds seeking legal advice a lawyer quibbles to get him out of a mire that is of his own making. Yet he has the brass neck to say that others are squandering money in highlighting D-A-C’s minicab Concierge system.

Mr Rice talks of “The facts, NOT lies…”. Well the fact is he is squandering thousands and thousands of pounds of member’s money in trying to keep his minicab alliance’s going forward. Whereas the truth is that LCDC is fighting minicab alliance’s with taxi circuits.

Given Mr Rice’s record I know who I believe and it is not Mr Rice.

    Mr Pravda

    • hello Mr Pravda. i do not know who is right. Mr Rice or Grant but i do know that this ‘bickering’ needs to stop for the good of the trade. particularly as they both say they are right. surely it is not impossible to let this matter drop now D-A-C say they have been vindicated.
i suspect the private hire elements are laughing at the constant infighting between our various trade unions and Chairmen. they read our papers i am sure.
i don’t like minicabs anymore than the rest of us but to keep slinging insults and allegations at each other will not make them go away and it will not make D-A-C stop their practices, regardless of who is moraly right.
it is now time for our trade to stand together and fight the issues that we possibly can do something about. by that i mean all of the trade. MR Rice and Grant should meet, talk and shake hands. that is a picture i would love to see in the newspapers. it would also show that these two men are men of dignity and are adult enough to agree to disagree if that was the outcome of a meeting.
it is now time to move on i believe. i should add that i do not know if the articles i read are correct from either of them. i do know however that enough is enough and if either of them are spending our money on personal vendettas it should stop immediately. i truly hope that is not the case. thank you for reading this. and it does not matter if we disagree. that is only being human and is actually allowed. good luck.

  8. I see the Badge is under attack again!

The Anderson Shelter and the LTDF/ UCG seem to think that the Badge is being beastly against yellow badges that are plying for hire out of sector.

The AS and UCG seem to want to sweep this issue of yellows out of sector under the carpet. Ask yourself why?

Perhaps it is the large numbers of yellow badge members, who out number green badges, within the RMT. Same goes for the members of the UCG and those that post on the LTDF.

Bellow is a post I attempted to put onto the Anderson blog. Jason Byrne and Thomas Tanker will not allow the post. So you can bet your new boots that it is spot on target and they are too frightened to air the post on their yellow badge dominated blog. Reason: if the RMT and UCG are democratic and the larger grouping of members are yellow badges what are the RMT and UCG going to push for? Yes you have got it!! So beware of these orgs demands all you green badges

    Bellow is the post.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Hey Jason and Jimbles three times I have tried to post and three times you have censored it. That tells me I am bang on target and you are afraid to print it.
    _________________________________________________

Could it be that Anderson Shelter and LTDF UCG are turning a blind eye to the problem of yellow badges plying for hire out of sector?

One very good reason for them doing so is that the RMT London Taxi Branch would collapse if the yellow badge members resigned their membership. Likewise the LTDF / United Cabbies Group. Both of these orgs have a heavy weighted yellow membership.

Could it be that yellow badges are calling the shots on the RMT and UCG and that is why green badges have left these orgs in droves.

  9. as i understand it the identifiers will be here in the near future. ‘lee’ mentions in an earlier post here that we should stick together and not fight green against yellow. we are actually doing just that lee. no one wishes any hardship to genuine suburban drivers. they do a great job in difficult times. i and i amsure others are only concerned with the ones that work unlawfully in central london. consder this. if you had a cab garage and were struggling and a man with a van and a trolly jack pitched up outside and stopped all incoming cabs and offered them cheap servicing. would you be annoyed? of course you would because he would be stealing your work. the yellow badge drivers that we refer to are stealing my work and i want it to stop. this does not mean i am in any way against the other honest ones. actually they have my sympathy because when the identifiers are in place many of these ‘parasites’ will go back and flood the suburbs and take an unfair share of the work built by the honest yellow badge drivers that stayed in their sectors. i hope you can understand this sentiment. you will for sure when you achieve your green badge. take care.

  10. I left the trade some 5 years ago now and moved to the USA. I drove for 10 years and was always a member of the club. I do n drive for a living now but still think fondly of London and driving at night. Could I do it again though? No not now. I think the trade has been thrown to the wolves by the crazy liberals that seem to hand every thing sacred away to those that least deserve it. The constant dilution of standards to bring the indigenous population to the level of the immigrants will be the end of the trade. I could see the writing on the wall and new it was time to jump ship. Things aren’t a bed of roses here, don’t get me wrong, but to watch the city of my birth being stolen from me was a pain that I could not endure any longer. I sure appreciated the work the club did for the trade then and the work it does now. I just don’t see a long term future for the trade as it stands today – I hope I am just another pessimist, but I could feel the writing on the wall.

  11. helllo Don. i suspect many of us feel the same as you. i once wrote to Mary Dowdye regarding my concerns about the help some people were getting to do the knowledge and my fears over our standards being eroded. i explained to her i have a mixed race granddaughter and we want her to achieve by hard work and not because some do-gooders believe they know what’s best for her simply because they are white and she is not. the reply i got was short and simple. she just said that ethnic minorities are underrepresented in our trade.
she chose to ignore the fact that our trade had always been open to everyone if they worked hard. i am towards the end of my career but i can honestly say knowing how this trade is being eroded i would not do the knowledge today. political correctness is a curse in my view. all that is required is common decency by us all to each other. if i were informed by TFL that the knowledge will be easier for me because i am black and they are making concessions i would be furious. i would consider this an insult. there are many non white drivers in our trade and they are equal to us all. i wonder how they must feel knowing future ethnic minorities and women will be getting an easier ride. i am personaly proud of achieving my green badge the old way. i am sure they are too.

  12. This pathetic Jews against the yellow Identifier scheme is a pathetic attempt to scupper the scheme. It is plain as a pike staff this is about trying to bring the identifier scheme into disrepute.

As well as a yellow badge how about badge number. Why does Mr Melvin Stanley not find wearing a number close to his skin the same or even more upsetting than wearing the colour yellow.

How far does he think he can take these associations of 71 years ago and force feed his view onto others. It is a colour used before the war and is used after. The colour association is gone. It is in the past.

If he truly feels anathematized to the colour yellow being about him he needs to get some professional help. One technique is called flooding whereby the patient is exposed, to a great degree, to the thing that is causing the phobia. He ought to eat plenty of custard, egg yokes and sit in the sun. And a yellow identifier maybe good for him too.

He may find he can wear a yellow badge and have a cab identifier and to his amazement he may find he is not arrested and incarcerated for being a Jew and that he has nothing to fear from the authorities in this respect. I wonder why he hasn’t worked that out for himself!

However, If he follows the path of some yellow badges ( the inner London plying for hire path) he maybe charged with a touting offence, but that is another story and has nothing to do with him being a Jew. Just maybe he has worked that one out for himself. Hence his nonsense letter.

We are in different times and we all have numbers and identification National Insurance number, driving license, passport. We even have to give a finger print to visit the States.

He is either psychologically incapacitated by this phobia and is being used or he using this for the yb’s own surreptitious ends. I reckon the latter

Leave the job if he doesn’t want to wear his badge of yellow and be designated as a suburban driver. He KNEW the colour of the badge when he signed up. Never mind the cab identifier he is already identified by a yellow badge and number.

  13. could someone please clarify as to weather the lcdc is open to yellow badges or not?this is a genuine question as i know many ybs not opposed to the id stickers and indeed welcome them as it will keep other sector drivers from crossing into busier sectors ect.

  14. Hi to everyone
Tom reynolds i appreciate your comments you put and do sympaphise with you and other green badges. As said before i am a yellow doing my green and all i am saying is that i think what with all the commosion going on lately i feel that all yellow badges are hated as green badges think that we are all stealing your work which is not true. All i want is for all of us to stick together during these hard times and concentrate on the biggest threat at the mo the mini cabs who i feel are really taking the mick out of yourselves .I understand that yellows are to but i really think that the mini cabe are on a greater scale then ourselves, tackle that problem first then tackle this one after and thx for your good luck message 6points on 56 and im not giving up atb to all jay
